Details
Experience the tranquillity of staying in mist of coffee plantation in Kutta, south Coorg in close proximity to Nagarhole wildlife sanctuary. Fill your senses with aroma of coffee and spices from surrounding plantation and sip coffee as you watch the sun sparkle its glory on the surroundings. Indulge in local cuisine from traditional kitchens of coorg enriched with spices from the home grown plantation. Watch the evening skies and listen to sounds of crickets beside the bon fire sipping homemade wine. Indulge in conversation with the hosts Mr and Mrs Naveen about local culture, customs and way of life in typical coorgi family.
This simple and serene homestay is perfect for adventure lovers who would like to trek Brahmagiri Peak, the second highest mountain in the district. The area is full of medicinal herbs and plants, and Ayurvedic treatments are also offered at the homestay. It has two double bedrooms and two family rooms in a converted 125 year old house, separate from the main residence. There are also tented accommodations, swings, and a hammock in the garden. The host is passionate about wildlife and takes guests on guided walks around the property’s large 90 acre estate (part of it is private forest and bird sightings are plentiful there).

I am basically a wildlife photographer. I found the right home stay and the perfect host Naveen. He helped me a lot in visiting places and sharing unbelievable knowledge on wildlife and coorg culture. One should never miss nagarhole national park, Thirunelli Temple and Irupu Falls. Thank you Spice Garden.
We were looking for a homely and cozy place in the middle of nature. Spice Garden satisfied our wish at all points. We enjoyed the walk through and around the coffee plantation. Although we grew up at the countryside, we learned something new. An other highlight was the visit of the Irupu Falls. And when we passed Nagarhole, we could already see a lot of deers.
The accommodation in the old traditional house was spacious and inviting. We loved the home made Coorgi dishes. Thank you Raina and Naveen, You made us really feel “at home”.

Eleven of us had a super holiday stay at Spice Garden, a
coffee estate in gorgeous fragrant bloom end February 2015
and conveniently close to Nagarhole National Park’s Kutta
exit. We had all six bedrooms (including two suites and a
high-up bungalow tent) to ourselves. The rates and the food
were both great, Rs 1800 per head including traditional and
European breakfast, and huge nonveg Coorg dinners. Our
planter host Navin Cariappa was very friendly, giving us a
moonlight tour of the estate and organising a surprisingly
easy trek halfway up the beautifully forested Brahmagiri
Peak. Worth doing is a breathtakingly scenic evergreen-forest
ghat drive down from nearby Tithimatti to Makutta and up
again. Both Navin and wife Raina are ecologically aware and
environmentally proactive. Enjoy your stay and their
company!
