The word Nakoor, (nalaku ooru) in Kannada means four surrounding villages which over a period of time was anglicanised to the present name and the word Volkot happened be the surname of two Swiss brothers who traded coffee during the pre-independence era, owned this plantation, hence the name Nakoor Volkot.
Nakoor Volkot is a coffee plantation consisting of Coffee, Pepper, Oranges and a small lake. The bunglow is also very close to the harangi back waters, the presence of water bodies close by, makes Nakoor Volkot a bird watchers paradise.
The hosts Usha, Ben and Aiyappa are Kodavas by birth, they live with in 3 minutes of walk from the homestay.
