Hidden away in a lush green coffee plantation is the resort of Kerehaklu. Kerehaklu, is named after an ancient water body that is situated inside the boundaries of the coffee estates, which appears to have been used by inhabitants a long time ago. These inhabitants lived in the vicinity of the area and the 11th century Palegar ruled fort Kanchinkal Durga, which is in the close proximity of Kerehaklu, located just above the coffee estate. In the Kannada language, the word “KERE” is used to describe a pond, a lake, a tank or a water body and the word “HAKLU” was used in ancient Kannada to describe a habitation, a dwelling place or a hutment. The water body even today fills up to the brim during the monsoon months.

     A resort made to give you a genuine feel of living in the great outdoors, whilst enjoying the small creature comforts that one has gotten used to today. All day long you will hear a cacophony of birds calling, the gurgle of a stream as it winds it way down the hillside on its way to join the River Bhadra or even the occasional call of the Barking Deer.
