Forest Hills Farm & Guesthouse is a family run rustic theme resort tucked in a secluded part of the Nilgirisin south India. With Mudumalai Tiger Reserve and Bandipur Tiger Reserve hop away, this region offers opportunities to explore the un-spoilt forestsand visit the resident wildlife. Time takes a break here in the deep reaches of nature.

Accommodation includes double-occupancy rooms, a family cottage, deluxe rooms, bamboo huts, two tree houses and a Machaan, all non-a/c. The rooms are cozily furnished with modern conveniences. The cuisine is delightfully tasty homemade food. It is a charming mix of old-fashioned hospitality and contemporary amenities typical of colonial bungalows.

The ‘Machaan’ or Watchtower, built on stilts at the edge of the property, has Wild Dogs, Asiatic Elephants, Leopards, Gaur, Sloth Bear as visitors. Set in a breathtakingly beautiful valley with the wooded mountains forming a majestic backdrop, the dawn and dusk here is adorned with over a hundred species of birds. Herds of spotted deer are commonly seen grazing in and around the place.

True to its name, Forest Hills gives you a combined experience of both the forest and the Nilgiris (blue mountains). Step out of the city and immerse in the sounds and visuals offered by nature.

Safaris

Safaris are organized by the Forest Department in Mudumalai and Bandipur Tiger Reserves. There are private van safaris also for Bandipur Tiger Reserve. Safari Timings: 6.30 to 9 AM, 3.30 to 6.30 PM.

Nature Walks

A short trek along the main road and up the hill to the Murugan Temple is quite an enjoyable experience. Soak in great panoramic view of the Nilgiri hills.

Bird Watching

Mudumalai is home to over 230 species of Birds. Forest Hills offers a wonderful opportunity for their Guests to sight over a hundred of these beautiful birds on the property itself! A birding hide is also set up in a secluded corner and attracts a variety of winged wonders.

Red Spurfowl, Yellow-browed Bulbul, White Cheeked Barbet, Gold-fronted Chloropsis, White-breasted Kingfisher, White Rumped Shama, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Blue-faced Malkoha, Black Eagle, Malabar Whistling Thrush, Brown Fish Owl, Green Bee Eater, Coppersmith Barbet, Asian Fairy Bluebird, Red-rumped Swallow, Long-tailed Shrike, Bay-backed Shrike, Scaly-breasted Munia, Plain Flower Pecker, Chestnut Shouldered Petronia, Indian Hanging Parrot, Asian Paradise Fly Catcher, Grey Junglefowl, White Bellied Woodpecker, Streak Throated Woodpecker…are some of the birds one can see while at Forest Hills!

Gopalaswamy Betta

The Gopalaswamy temple is located on the highest peak within Bandipur National Park and offers a panoramic view of the park. Forest Department vehicles are available at the foothills to visit the picturesque hilltop.

Standard Room

Comfortable and cozy rooms with modern facilities. An attached bath, geysers for hot water and a sit-out. All three rooms are in the main building.They are different in terms of appearance, styling and space. Maximum of three people can be accommodated in each room

Bamboo Cottage

Lovely rustic huts. Rooms are cozy with modern facilities. An attached bath with geyser in all Huts for hot water and a nice little sit-out overlooking the forest. Maximum of three people can be accommodated in each hut.

Family Cottage

Acosy independent cottage with 2 double beds and 2 bathrooms. Geyser fitted for hot water and an independent sit-out.An ideal choice for families.

Deluxe Room

A large and spacious room with all modern facilities. Sitting area inside the room and a large sit-out too. An attached bathroomwith geyser fitted for hot water.

Tree House

Two rooms built around two trees on stilts and a bridge that connects the rooms…makes the Tree Houses. The rooms have all modern facilities, including an attached bathroom, geyser for hot water.We forgot to mention, staying here increases your chances of spotting wildlife like deer, elephants, leopard, bear,etc.

Machaan

A structure built on solid steel stilts;Level 1 is a double occupancy room with an attached bath (geyser fitted). A 360-degree view of the entire area (forests and Nilgiris) and the best spot on the property for wildlife sighting/photography (Tiger, Leopard, Elephants, Gaur, Spotted deer and innumerable birds species)- that’s Level 2 for you.

Dormitory

Large independent room, 10 beds, 2 attached bathrooms with modern facilities makes the Dormitory an ideal choice for large families, group of boys/girls who want to stay together.
