Tamarind Tree is a cozy guesthouse at Achakarai, Masinagudi.. As the name suggests, a huge tamarind tree towers over our property consisting of brick red cottages and bungalow. The cottages offer a a scenic view of the blue mountains famously known as the Nilgiris.
Situated only 8 kms away from the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve and about 30 kms from the Queen of Hills i.e. Ooty, it is a perfect getaway from the maddening concrete jungle.

Spot the resident birds, or an occasional peacock, but  it is indeed difficult to escape the constant chitter-chatter of the monkeys. And yet we say “no monkey business”.

Accommodation in Tamarind Tree includes two cottages with two rooms each and a bungalow with three rooms. Each room is spacious, airy, comfortableand done up tastefully.

Mudumalai, rich in wildlife has a lot to offer. The forests of Mudumalai are filled with birds of various types.Watch the birds as they live in these forests, chirping and flying all around. Climb trees, spot nests and hatchlings. Collect their feathers, click pictures, – all a colourful remainder of the wonders of God’s magnificent creation; the avian life.

Several tea estates in Ooty’s neighbour Coonoor offer guided tours, which offer stunning views and fascinating insights into the making of the popular beverage. Tea Factory guides visitors through the various stages of the tea-making process in the factory, from withering and rolling, to drying and sifting. There is also a tea shops at the end, which offers local varieties of tea, spices and oil, as well as souvenirs.
